Elmo was walking poolside, so Caleb grabbed a quick picture. I can only imagine how hot "ELMO" must be.
The characters were great. About twice a day, one character would come by the pool for about 15 to 20 minutes.
It was so neat to be swimming one minute and hugging Elmo the next.

Food For Thought Fridays (On Sunday)
We just got back from vacation and I did not have access to a computer on Friday, so here is a little snack to munch on.
As he looked at the beauty of God's creation, St. Augustine once said, "If these are the pleasures afforded to sinful men, what does God have in store for those whose hearts are His?"
How much do you get caught up in the worries and hurries of life and walk right by the blessings God lays in front of you today?
And if God does bless us now in some way, how great will it be when He comes and we see Him?
What does He have in store for us?
Shalom.

Food For Thought Fridays
50% of Christian men read the word one time or LESS (A BIG FAT ZERO) during the week. These aren't just men who say they are Christians. These are men considered to be the pillars of the congregation.
That is a sad statement. No wonder the church is viewed as wishy washy.
We are a bunch of starving people. We are so malnourished we can't stand up to fight.
John Calvin once said we should reverence the scriptures as we revere God.
I understand what Calvin is saying, but I think we say the Bible is Holy and inspired by God, then put it on the top shelf and never open the Word.
We revere it, we just don't read it.
Thats why we sway with every windy fad and smooth talk that comes by.
2 Timothy 3: 16-17 says, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
If you want to be equipped, trained, repaired and taught; read the Word.
Shalom

Strawberry Excitement
Caleb had a blast picking strawberries. He would pick one strawberry from each row. He picked one and yelled, "Look at those strawberries!" Then he would jump to the next row and yell the same thing. I bet he went on twenty rows to pick a bucket of strawberries.
Pickin' Berries
Isaiah was a strawberry pickin' machine. He probably ate more than he picked though. They should have weighed him before and after in order to charge us.

Food For Thought Fridays
This has been my memory verse. One thing that strikes me in this passage is that the blessed man will go to the Word out of delight NOT just duty. How many times do we read the Word thinking, "I just have to get 1 chapter or ten minutes in"
Also, I believe that the less time you spend in the truth of the Word, the more likely you will find yourself in the counsel of the wicked, in the way of sinners, and in the seat of scoffers.
I encourage you to continue to passionately seek the Lord through His Word. If you are not passionate about His Word, ask God why.
But I do know, as we seek Him, we can live lives that show Him the glory He alone deserves.

Food For Thought Fridays
Peter starts out this letter calling the recipients "strangers."
What if we lived as strangers in this world? What if we thought more about things from above than what kind of TV to buy? Why do we spend more time figuring out how to be comfortable than we do about how to serve God?
We pride ourselves on junk that doesn't even matter. "Look what I have done." "Look at me." We will not say it out loud, but what about when it's dark and you are alone? How much do we let the things of this world define who we are?
The roaring lion of pride in our accomplishments and stuff is seeking to devour us.
Give it up. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble (v 5).
All we have, all we are, all we will be is Him. We have to keep this in the front of our minds.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: Casting all your cares upon Him; for He cares for you.

Back Porch Love
Yesterday we were all playing out in the backyard before we went out to eat. The boys were playing baseball, riding the gator, and pretending to be Ewoks from Star Wars.
Amanda was so pretty, I had to take a few pictures. I know she is not smiling, but she really does like me.

Food For Thought Fridays
The word "dwells" is not a vacation spot or a weekend visit. As much as I would like a vacation (and need one), "dwells" denotes a place of PERMANENT residence.
Many people desire security, happiness, comfort, and peace. I mean, who wouldn't?
In the truest form, these "benefits" are inseperable from God. If you want to know real security, real happiness, real comfort, real peace, God has to be your treasure.
But here is the problem, people want these "benefits" that come FROM God, they just don't want to be hassled WITH God.
It is much easier to do it on your own and visit Him on weekends. That way we have someone to blame when things don't go the way we want.
We need to learn to DWELL with God and stop using Him as a 911 operator.
Shalom.

Food For Thought Fridays
Spiritually that is.
Anorexia is a disease that causes people to refuse food in a desire to be beautiful and thin. Many Christians refuse the bread of life every day, yet expect God to do amazing things in their lives. How can it be?
Bulimia is a disease that causes people to binge on tons of food, then vomit to remove the impact of the food consumed. Many Christians binge on the buffet of God and can tell you everything about church, music, and His Word, but they don't apply any of it to their lives. They might as well vomit on the doorsteps of the church as soon as services are over. It is gross, but it is true.
I pray that you are neither and that you are like Ezra.
Ezra 7: 10 says, "For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel."
Ezra set his heart on the Word. He made a steadfast decision that he would not be anorexic.
Ezra set his heart to do the Word. He made a steadfast decision that he would not be bulimic.
Stay strong and be blessed.

This was a perfect day at the beach. When I look at this picture, it almost looks like a backdrop. But it is the real thing. It was a beautiful day.

Kiss The Son
This is one of my favorite photographs ever. Isaiah was completely exhausted after a long day at the beach and on top of that, we wanted the boys to take some pictures.
Just for this moment, Isaiah was enjoying playing on this old tree stump so much that everything else faded. It seemed like a moment where he could just kiss the sun.
I hope that we will take time this Easter to remember the sacrifice Jesus made on a tree for us and enjoy Him so much that everything else just fades.
Take time to kiss the SON!

Psalm 51: 1-12 says,
Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin!
For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is ever before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you may be justified in your words
and blameless in your judgment.
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being,
and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones that you have broken rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins,
and blot out all my iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from your presence,
and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.
This is a Psalm by David after he had sinned against God with Bathsheeba, but it is suitable for us today.
During Easter, we need to remember, that God took action and why He did so.
Psalm 51: 7 says, "Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow."
One thing I notice as a theme through the chapter is who is doing the action (wash me, purge me, create in me, restore me, deliver me). David is not saying I will wash, I have purged, I created, etc. David is asking God to take action.
This is opposite of what most of us do. No matter how big or small the sin, we try to clean up our own mess in our own power. We might be able to paint the sin white for a while in our own strength, but eventually the dirt shines through.
But if we will let God take the soap of His word and wash us (even behind the ears), we will be white as snow. Snow isn't just white on the outside, it is white through and through.
Stop trying to do all the right things in your own strength and focus your attention on the character of God. We have to come to the King of All saying, "Wash me, filthy as I am, and I will be whiter than snow."
And He will.
Happy Easter!

In The Ivy
On Wednesday, Isaiah's class had an Easter egg hunt and Amanda and I hid the eggs. After we finished, I took a few shots while we waited for the kids to come over.
I thought I would share a picture of Amanda smiling. People say I must make her mad and that is why she isn't smiling in some of her pictures.
Well, she is smiling. See, she does like me.

Food For Thought Fridays
I said, "A lot of us do, son."
We put too many things before God. We constantly need to be looking at our lives and make sure that things don't need to be rearranged.
Love money, love things, love movies, love internet, . . . love life. Love anything more than Jesus and things need to be rearranged.
Don't be fooled, Jesus is superior to all.
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. Hebrews 1:1-4
I love these verses. God has spoken to us and these verses tell us what He has said.
Jesus is the greatest, most radiant, most powerful, most majestic, most holy, most excellent being. Anything we put before Him would be idiotic.
It may not be Legos, but examine your life and look for things that need to be rearranged because God has spoken. Don't miss what He said.
Shalom.

You really need to have the right tool for the right job.
In our relationship with God, we often miss the point of why we were created. We were created for His glory.
As a result, we find ourselves being a hammer when a screwdriver is needed. We are misapplied tools because we don't know our proper role in the Kingdom.
We were created to give God glory. To worship Him.
I'm not just talking about music. I'm talking about everything you say, do, and think (yes, think) being a deliberate act of worship to give the Almighty Creator, who happens to be our Father, the glory He deserves.
AW Tozer said, "If you will not worship God seven days a week, you DO NOT worship Him one day a week." Think about it.
Blessings.
Come To The Dark Side
After church, we played Star Wars. Unfortunately, Isaiah always wants me to be Jabba the Hutt.
Is it because of my looks or my laziness? I don't know which one I would prefer.

And the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward."
This is part of the story of God dividing the Red Sea.
There is a ton of good stuff in this whole account. Its not just a Sunday school story. Well worth reading a few times.
The Israelites were in a no win situation, rock and a hard place, death by drowning or death by spear.
Many of us probably feel like that right now.
Israel started complaining about the circumstances. Don't do that.
In these verses, the Lord gives us four steps to handle these times.
1. Fear not - if God is for us, who can be against us.
2. Stand firm - have your footing on the Word.
3. Hold your peace or keep silent - don't complain and don't blame. Trust the Lord and see Him fight for you. Cool!
4. Go forward - take a step of faith.
From our perspective, sometimes the sea divides and sometimes it doesn't, but remember that our Father only and always does what is good.
Blessings

In Romans 1:1 Paul starts his letter by saying, "Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God. . ."
Paul said he was a servant or bondservant depending on the version you read. We use servant most times in the Bible because slave sounds harsh.
But, I wonder if our prayer life reflects a slave's heart.
Many times I feel like I only make my requests known before the Father without taking time to listen to the Master's voice. What kind of slave tells his master exactly what he wants done and how to do it?
I think it would do us well to take some time to get on our face and seek the voice of the Master.
Romans 11: 34-36 says,
For who has known the mind of the Lord,or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
We must realize the Creator of the universe owes us nothing. But, every day, every minute, every smile, every laugh and every tear are by God's grace and mercy.
How small are we and how great is our God that He is mindful of us.

Beach Daze
We went down to the beach for a little while. The weather was cool, but we sat for a while and looked for some shells. The boys had a great time.

Backlit Batman
I haven't posted a shot of Isaiah in a while. So I took a few pictures of him at the park yesterday. He did not take a nap so we stopped quickly. You can tell he wasn't very excited about the whole process. Amanda and I were talking yesterday about how special he is and you can't help but love him no matter what.

1 . 2 . 3 . 4 . . . Caleb's 5
Caleb is turning 5 on February 1. He is not looking like my baby boy anymore. Time flies by so fast and he is changing almost daily. He has fallen in love with Star Wars and now wants to have a Star Wars party.
May the force be with you.

Where Dreams Come True
Over Thanksgiving we went to Disney World. It was their first trip and we had a great time.
Lot of fun. Lot of walking. Need a lot of sleep
To Infinity and Beyond!
Woody and Buzz are their favorite characters along with WALL-E and EVE. Isaiah was in awe of Buzz and the characters were great with the boys.

The Great Pumpkin Patch
We took Isaiah and Caleb to the Great Pumpkin Patch. They definitely had some fun. Caleb chose the biggest pumpkin he could find. Isaiah chose the bumpiest and smallest. They sat on the tractor and we went on a short hay ride. The boys loved it and we topped it all off with supper at Ruby Tuesdays. A complete day.

First Day of School
It was the first day of school for Caleb and Isaiah. It was a rainy and gloomy day for the first day, but the boys seemed to have a great time. Mommy, on the other hand, had a much more difficult time with seeing her babies grow up and go to school. Isaiah said that he learned to share (we'll see) and Caleb was learning some new dance moves (he likes to move it, move it).

Just let me ride, please!
Caleb was waiting "patiently" for me to take a few pictures before we went back home after riding his bike. Don't you love the face patience?
Where's The Fire?
Well, we are back from vacation and we have started riding bikes in an area near our house. This fire hydrant was out there and Isaiah was playing with it so, of course, I took a few pictures.

God's Creation
We went to the Aquarium at Fort Fisher on Saturday. We rode the ferry over and Caleb, Isaiah, and especially Amanda loved the ride. At the aquarium, we played a game called "What in the world is it?" People get to guess what kind of animal a fuzzy picture is showing. The boys thought that was a cool game because they won temporary tattoos. The boys had a great time, but were exhausted by the time we left.
Under The Sea
Isaiah loved the fish at the aquarium, but loved the machine that flattens pennies for 50 cents more. Go figure.

Rachel's Dedication
Rachel had her baby dedication today. We took a ton of pictures and I will post some soon, but I had to do this one first because it reminded me so much of how Caleb looked at us when he was this age.

Even A Super Hero . . .
Has to have snack time.
We went to the Exploration Station while Caleb was at Animal Camp. Isaiah fell in love with being Superhero Isaiah, but we still had to put stopping crime on hold for a few goldfish and some apple juice.
Caleb's New Hat
The other night, Caleb had a fit because he did not have a hat to wear when we went out to eat. So, I bought him a new hat from Children's Place.
He wore it for all of ten minutes. That is just the way it goes.

On The Deck
We went to eat at a new little restaurant in Elizabethtown called Paradise Cafe. The food was good (great fries) and after we ate, the kids went out on the deck. I had my camera along with me and decided to take a few pictures of Isaiah while we were outside.
Time Management
We took a few shots in the backyard before going out for dinner. We were waiting on Momma, so we used our time wisely.
He wanted to have the leaves in the shot with him.
I can't believe how fast he is growing up. Five in February. He is not looking like my baby any more.

Watchin the Works
This was a shot of the children watching the fireworks. Caleb is on the end with the camo shorts (He has my ears). It was a great night and a lot of fun with friends. Happy 4th again!
Happy 4th of July Everyone!
This was a shot of Amanda at the fireworks last night! I hope everyone has a safe and blessed July 4th!

All this time and she has not killed me . . . YET!

My Dynamic Bride
After taking the pictures of Amanda and her sister, I asked Amanda to take some pictures by the old barn in the field. I was playing around with a new photo technique and this is what I got. We had to crawl across a ton of briers, but it was worth it, i think.
Beating The Heat
With highs of 95 to 100, we have made use of the water hose and sprinkler for an afternoon cool down.

Krispy Kreme
We stopped by KK in Myrtle Beach, SC. Isaiah and I could probably eat about 6 in a minute. SO, SO, GOOD.
That is such a great business plan - Turn on a light and people stop and buy doughnuts.

Catching Up

The image of Amanda was one from Easter that she loved so I thought it would be nice to post.
We bought a Tee-Ball set for the boys. They played with it all of two minutes, but at least I got a shot of Isaiah looking like one mean pitcher. Hey Batta, Batta, Swing, Batta.
We also took the boys to pick their own strawberries. That was a ton of fun. Both boys loved the farm. We probably should have weighed Isaiah before and after because he ate more than he picked. Caleb was the collector. He wanted to pick every one of the strawberries so he would have them all. He definitely wanted the perfect one. This shot of Caleb was the one he considered to be the best strawberry. So proud.
